The Strip,
Albufeira, is a road about one and a half miles long running from
Montechoro, south of the Montechoro Hotel to the beach at Praia
da Oura. It is bordered on both sides by a large number of bars
and restaurants, getting progressively more lively the nearer
you get to the beach. We think that the Montechoro end of the
Strip is the “better” end, interesting but not quite
so crowded.
Restaurants
recommended by algarvia,
starting from the top, or North end of the Strip include the following:-
Martinique
Large stylish
restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating situated opposite the
taxi rank at the top of the Strip. Good quality food served with
efficiency and good humour. Also a nice place to stop for a coffee
and/or drink during the day. Piped music adds to the atmosphere.
Manuel
dos Frangos
Directly opposite
Martinique, this restaurant specialises in chicken and prawns,
served barbecued with or without piri-piri sauce, a spicy covering
the tantalise the taste buds. The tomato salad is also delicious.
This is a very good value restaurant and there is also a take
away service available. Probably the best chicken piri-piri.
The
Chor Bar
This is another
large restaurant just south of Martinique and Manuel dos Frangos,
on the corner of Rua Vasco Santana and the Strip. I never used
to like this place but it has recently changed ownership and been
revamped. I have been impressed with the quality and service and
now regularly use it.
